How ZIP image archives become PDFs

A CBZ file is usually just a ZIP archive with a comic-book extension. If your comic pages are already inside a ZIP file, you can convert that ZIP directly to a PDF.

  1. 1Put comic pages inside a ZIP archive.
  2. 2Use clear filenames such as 001.jpg, 002.jpg, and 003.jpg.
  3. 3Choose the ZIP file in the converter.
  4. 4Preview the order and download the PDF.

ZIP vs CBZ

CBZ is a comic archive format based on ZIP. In many cases, renaming a comic ZIP to .cbz simply makes comic reader apps recognize it as a comic book.

Mangavia accepts both .zip and .cbz files when they contain supported image pages.

Image formats inside the ZIP

ZIP archives can contain JPG, JPEG, PNG, and WEBP comic pages. Non-image files are ignored.

For best results, keep only the pages you want in the PDF and remove extra folders or metadata files when troubleshooting.

Filename order matters

The converter uses filenames to keep pages in reading order. Numbered filenames are much safer than names such as page1, page2, and page10.

Use leading zeroes like 001, 002, and 010 so the order stays predictable.

A private way to package scanned pages

The ZIP is read locally in your browser. The archive and page images are not sent to Mangavia servers.

After conversion, the generated PDF is downloaded from your current browser session.

ZIP archive checklist

A clean ZIP archive makes conversion faster and more predictable.

ItemRecommendedWhy it matters
File names001.jpg, 002.jpg, 003.jpgKeeps comic pages in the intended order.
Image typesJPG, PNG, or WEBPThese formats are supported by the converter.
FoldersAllowed, but keep them simpleNested folders work, but simple archives are easier to verify.
Extra filesRemove when possibleText files and metadata are ignored, but clutter can make troubleshooting harder.

When a ZIP is not enough

If the ZIP is damaged, encrypted, or does not contain supported image files, the converter cannot build a PDF from it. Password-protected archives are not supported.

ZIP to PDF comic questions

Can I convert a ZIP file to PDF without renaming it to CBZ?

Yes. Mangavia accepts ZIP archives directly when they contain supported comic page images.

Can the ZIP contain folders?

Yes. Images inside folders are detected, but clean folder names and consistently numbered pages make the result easier to check.

Can I upload loose images instead of a ZIP?

Not directly. Put the images into a ZIP archive first, then choose that ZIP in the converter.

What image formats can be inside the ZIP?

JPG, JPEG, PNG, and WEBP pages are supported. Non-image files are ignored.
